Venice
Great place and I swear you get a great photo with every canal. Now that first year is over I GET TO DO WHATEVER I WANT >:`D However with no project on at the moment I’ll be uploading the photos I took whilst on holiday. Venice is something special and I can see why people speak so much of it. I’ve made so many memories in such a short time in the city and plan to visit again sometime in the near future, there’s still places I’m yet to explore. Of course I made sure I went to the main tourist areas, next trip will hopefully be Venice as the locals see it. And for the first time I experienced just how ruthless pigeons can really be! These flew towards you especially if you had food in your hand, and why people would want to take pictures with them I’ll never understand, of course I was ambushed but it was all for the photos. I’m thinking of painting some of these photos, but with my current mindset I’m still yet to figure out what style of painting I want to adapt.
Valley Entrance
Lye Valley
I haven’t posted in a while so I decided today will be the day to break my silence. Well 1st year for me is officially over and I plan to coast till the new term, when what I do in art actually counts. Do I feel like I just wasted a year, YES! but hey what’s there to complain about, got a show coming up in June and a 4 month break to unwind (work my butt off) and prepare for what’s next to come. So I took a stroll in the Lye Valley forgetting my Wellingtons again -_- but in all the photos I took weren’t all that bad, now that the sun has finally showed itself I can take photos the way nature intended. NEARLY BROKE A SWEAT TOO! oh England your bi polar weather does have its days.

Much Better
Even I’m Surprised
For the life of me I thought I had tomorrow to finish my project but I got the feeling that I’m done. I wanted to add more to this, and yes the nature of this work is that I could allow it to expand if I felt like it. But I’m teaching myself to leave my art when I feel it’s done, I have the tendency to overwork my paintings adding too much when all I needed was already there. This is how it looks like at night I’m yet to see the final piece in the morning, and I will live up to my promise, I’m taking my bridge camera with me. 😀 SO HAPPY!!!!
Getting There
So I’ve literally just got back from the studios and I’m exhausted! I wanted to get the main bit done. See I find that doing the hardest tasks first allows me to coast and enjoy the rest of the painting process. I’m so happy the worst is now behind me, now it’s just a case of putting the finishing touches. The student in me was ready to order a pizza but Dominos is shut -_- just when I needed them, and I’m the type of person that only has stuff that needs cooking for more than 30 minutes. Oh well, late night cooking, it’s not like I haven’t done it before 😛 So as you can see the base painting was actually a template for my Chitenge design, I was going to stencil the whole design but the time to find spray paint was not even worth stressing about. It looks like I have kept to some sort of rule, I’ve actually painted the whole of this part of the composition without relying on masking. Yup I went old school, ruler and a steady hand. The rest will be masked, as I really don’t see myself finishing on time if I don’t. Call it cheating? I really don’t care I’m claiming artistic license.
