BUT LIKE I SAID SLEEP IS THE ENEMY! I REBUKE IT IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS, pshh I’ll just crash and burn on the days I feel the lowest. So OLLIE! So as you should know we Christians LOVE EACH OTHER!!! So I have plenty Mums in the church back home. Mumma S has been feeling low and for good reasons too, see I like to use art as a tool to aid spiritual recovery. The Geist told me to, I hope you like it mum 😀 This took me a good 2 days worth of painting (don’t ask me the times just know that I AM ALWAYS TIRED!!!!). See art is a gift and a curse, you produce work that has a spiritual resonance at the cost of your body suffering in the process. But it’s all good (LSP) these lumps of flesh have been well trained! So best believe when my BODY’S TELLIN ME NO……..MY MIND MY MIND IS TELLIN ME YEEEEEESSSS! that’s right I can fight temptation like the best of them (Gospel choir leader in overalls with matching gold sash and shoes) MHMMM DAT’S RIGHT PRAISE JESUS! I was going to do this earlier but work+fear of meeting with deadlines (even though they are all the way in MAY mumma G SEE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE) had me leaving this to last minute but I’m coming home for Easter (I love Oxford but NA UH this negro’s smarts can be exhausted too) and to ensure safe delivery I will give this to you mumma S (God Bless the Royal mail but some things are best posted by hand). 😀

(Jamaican voodoo priestess) LET MEH INTRODUCE YOU TO MYSTIC SN! Me tell ya dat me nah get no sleep so struss when me se ME TIRED!!! ALL DA TIME. But it’s ok I’m back (to my normal anyway) mum always said if life gets too stressful pshhhh sleep it out. So back to the sublime, you’ll need to do your research on this one as I said I’m tired of repeating myself. Now in a world that looks like all hell is about to break loose the mystics have a way of keeping the PEACE, according to the chemistry definition, Sublimation is when a substance skips a step and jumps straight to another phase, (from solid to gas missing the liquid phase see I spoil you). Now I love diamonds (blame Hollywood and every rapper I look up to) good examples of the sublime. Remember one possible definition of Sublime is the knowledge that man gets from the cosmos (NERD ALERT!!!!) So we artists – our bezzy mates the philosophers and who ever questions stuff a lot – can tap into the theory of the Sublime and wonder what is truly out there? It’s amazing because the Sublime is a subject already being tapped into by the musical muse O_o” the very reason why Rihanna, out of the blue, is telling everyone to SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND O_O”

I love walking. The the Lye Valley, is the perfect place to spend some quiet time; it’s nice to take a break from the world and just get lost in nature. The valley is perfect because the moment you enter, the sound of a busy world disappears and your surrounded… nature, which can be as loud at times. Then reality hits when the sound of a jet engine annoyingly whizzes past -_- The valley is incredibly muddy so I thought, why not buy some wellingtons? Which of course I did (Primark £7 I do love my bargains) but me being my cheap self had to settle for practicality -_- but the artist in me was like HELL NO these are BORING PAINT THEM! so I did 😀 Painted a wall in the process and it was interesting how the two seemed to merge. Here’s an Image of the Boots. The following two posts will be pictures of the the wall and the boots alongside the wall. AH 90’s you always have a way of making me happy 😀

Coffin

So I went into the studios today to hand in a staple gun, had a convo with Ryan who then pointed me to the direction of an artist call to decorate a coffin with the theme of angels. Which makes sense, as one of the reasons I’m painting circles is the fact that I read the passage in Ezekiel (10), which includes a detailed description of winged creatures accompanied by spinning wheels with many eyes. Yeah I’m that artist now, casually painting coffins…. 😀

So I couldn’t sleep -_- I looked at Lteisha’s design and wondered what else I could do with it. Then I remembered, back in the day I would scribble over images with biro, and it was always hair; I don’t know why. So I did the same with the design and even I’m happy with the result 😀

This was truly a labor of love it took a while as I had to have it finished among other projects. It’s a bust from the Ashmolean. Like the description below I painted this on stretched paper which I primed with a home-made gesso. After drawing the image I then blocked in the important shadow information and filled in the rest of the detail.

As an artist you are always looking around for the next best thing and you just know when you have found it. Emmanuel Awuni (a good friend) is an up and coming artist, what he doesn’t realise is the principle of the creative act ( I LOVE MARCEL DUCHAMP O_O ). Now he thinks he’s not good enough simply because of the difference in our styles of painting. But he doesn’t realise that his art SPEAKS FOR ITSELF! So I’m going to show you one of his pieces and I know you will all see what I see!

I’m not too sure of the dimensions of this painting. Knowing Mani this is probably acrylic.

Back to the Basics

So I’m back home…. and I’m already bored. As I don’t have my regular art supplies I’m reduced to the stuff I left behind. I was sure I left some Indian Ink behind, but nope all I found was poster paint. I remembered my frustration whenever I tried to get a solid colour with the stuff, having to add layer upon layer to get the result I wanted only to leave it as it took so long; Ah GCSE 😀 So I feel like making a series of Tigers, they seem to be everywhere at the moment. I love the creatures and if you remember a few blog posts back I did a short series then of the amazing creatures. Now not to offend any non believers, but I’m amazed whenever I see God’s creation at it’s best. Love these creatures, I can be so happy to have a reserve and simply sketch animals all day. So this is the first of hopefully many AND I WILL OVERCOME MY HATRED FOR POSTER PAINT!
